Iwaki, 25 April, 2011- To meet the demands of the automotive industry,
the Tungaloy Corporation has now extended its new TungCut range of grooving and parting off tooling.
The series that enables the end user to conduct a wide variety of functions
with a single toolholder has been extended to now include the new DTA series of inserts
and corresponding toolholders for aluminium wheel machining.
Designed for the internal and external turning of aluminium wheels,
the new additions provide the end user with a comprehensive range of cutting tools for automotive applications.
The new TungCut DTA inserts are available in two designations,
the 6 or 8mm insert width that provide a 3 or 4mm radius on the cutting edge.
This optimal size makes the DTA inserts ideal for intricate profile machining of aluminium wheels.
Purposely designed for the machining of aluminium, Tungaloy has applied its exceptional TH10 carbide grade to the DTA insert line.
The TH10 is application-specific and can be applied to instances that require high surface finishes
and smooth chip evacuation to deliver the optimal performance for the end user.
Tungaloy has also developed two new types of toolholders specifically for the DTA inserts and the profile machining of aluminium wheels. The CTER/L-15A and CGIUR/L-15A toolholders are available in 12 different types with six right handed tools
and six left handed tools available.
CTER/L-15A type is applicable for the 6 or 8mm insert and offers a cutting depth of 25mm
for the 6mm insert and 30mm for the 8mm insert.
The internal CGIUR/L-15A toolholders are offered with a number of additional options to improve flexibility for the customer.
The 6 and 8mm inserts can be seated in a 320mm long toolholder that can machine an internal groove
with a minimum machining diameter of 160mm. Additionally,
Tungaloy offers larger toolholders for internally machining from 200mm diameter upwards.
This larger toolholder has an overall length of 350mm, for heavier machining applications than the smaller CTER/L-15A.
With each toolholder option available in left or right hand,
the company can now offer a total of 12 toolholders for aluminium wheel machining.
The new DTA inserts provide exceptional surface finishes, long tool life and remarkable chip control
for impeccable production performance.
When combined with the new toolholders that provide rigidity, flexibility and extended capabilities,
the end user can achieve higher productivity with the new TungCut aluminium wheel machining series.
