Iwaki JAPAN, 31 January 2011 - The renowned T9100 Series of turning inserts from the Tungaloy Corporation has now been extended to incorporate a vast new range of chipbreakers for improved turning performance. Offering extremely stable tool life, the T9100 Series provides a high level of reliability with its fracture toughness when conducting steel turning.
Utilizing Tungaloy’s PremiumTec technology, the T9100 Series inserts have a smooth surface that prevents chip adhesion and improves chip flow. When combined with Tungaloy’s adhesion reinforcement technology that enhances the bond between coating and substrate, the customer can be confident they have acquired a proven grade with market leading performance.
Previously, this range of steel turning grades was available with negative type mainly TH, TM and TSF chipbreaker that cater for heavy, medium and finish machining respectively. These main chipbreakers for machining up to 6mm depth of cut on continuous or interrupted processes has now been extended to increase the capability of the series. The new additions to the negative insert designations are the DM, ZF, ZM, NM, AFW, ASW and 61 series. These added ranges offer a number of benefits that include extremely high feed machining and a wiping function on the AFW series while the ZF series excels in chip control on lead free materials.
The ASW series has a negative land design for reliability and edge strength while the ZM series offers excellent chip control when profile machining or cutting round forms. The NM chipbreaker has a well-designed protrusion and strong edge for high feed cutting while the new 61 Series is a round insert with hole for heavy cutting.
With regard to chipbreakers for positive type inserts, the new developments include the PSF, PSS, PM, 61, RS, ZF and ZM series. The new PSF designation has been developed for finish machining with low cutting forces and high wear resistance. While the PS type for medium to heavy machining offers a three-dimensional finishing chipbreaker for excellent chip control and the PSS type has excellent chip control with low cutting forces for internal stainless steel machining.
Specifically for medium machining, the PM type insert is a basic chipbreaker for medium cutting with excellent cutting sharpness and chip control. The ZF, ZM, RS and 61 series also offer a vast array of options to meet the needs of the end user.
The new insert designations are available for all insert styles including rhombic, triangular, trigon and square inserts. For further details on the extensive T9100 Series and how it can benefit your turning processes, please contact your local Tungaloy representative.
