For medium to heavy machining of cast iron and steel, the Tungaloy Corporation
has now launched its new DoOcto & DoQuad face milling series of cutters.
To improve productivity, the cutters incorporate high density inserts with
a positive rake angle and tough cutting edge.
The face mill cutters house inserts with 16 cutting edges to reduce tooling costs.
With inserts operating at a 45 degree lead angle, the DoOcto efficiently removes
stock when conducting heavy cutting operations that are commonplace
in the automotive, power generation, ship building and additional heavy industry sectors.
The new range of cutters are available with either screw or wedge type clamping
systems and can be operated with octagonal, square DoQuad or wiper insert
designs to create the optimal cutting conditions when machining cast iron and steel.
Tungaloy has designated its MJ inserts for steel machining, ML inserts for
cast iron machining and the wiper inserts for finish machining operations.
The DoOcto & DoQuad cutters have an extra high density cutter body
and this provides
and environment for high feed cutting that delivers productivity and rigidity levels
beyond that of competitor products.
The screw type cutters are available in diameters from 63 to 200mm with the amount
of teeth ranging from 5 to 18 depending upon diameter. The wedge type cutters are available
from 63 to 200mm diameter with 8 to 28 teeth. Both cutter types can be specified
with imperial dimensions as well as metric.
To improve the capability scope of the extremely productive DoOcto &
DoQuad,
Tungaloy engineers have developed the AH120, AH140 and AH725 insert grades
with chip breakers and wipers to work in conjunction with the cutters.
This variation of inserts enables the DoOcto & DoQuad to deliver exceptional
productivity
levels when machining a variety of materials that include low carbon steel,
high carbon steel, alloyed steel, tool steel and grey and nodular cast iron.
The diverse selection of inserts combined with an innovative cutter body design
enable the DoOcto & DoQuad to perform at productivity levels beyond
competitor offerings.
